ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Dr. Teresa Irwin, but you can call me The Vaginacologist!
Before attending medical school, I was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of nursing and I worked as a nurse for many years. In my subspecialty, I am board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS), previously known as urogynecology. I am one of less than 1,500 board certified FPMRS in the United States and the only one between San Antonio and Austin, TX. I also serve as an expert witness on female pelvic dysfunctions. In 2005 I was voted as a "Top Doctor", in 2006 one of the “Best Doctors in Texas” and in 2007, 2011, 2020 one of the “Super Doctors” by Texas Monthly. The Consumer’s Research Council of America honored me as “America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists” in 2008 and 2010.
In 2012, I completed training at Intuitive Surgical, Inc. to be a robotic gynecologic surgeon proctor and have been training doctors to use the robotic tools as well. I previously served as the pro bono medical director of Hays County's Women’s Health Program and Family Planning Services for over a decade. I am a Fellow of The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and American Medical Association (AMA). In addition, I have a certificate of Applied Science and Clinical Hands on Body Contouring and Laser Assisted Liposuction and was granted admission to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in 2010.

MY BACKGROUND
Before completing my doctorate, I worked as a nursing assistant, nurse technician, registered nurse and clinical research nurse. This experience led me to be extremely grateful for the members of my team that are often under-appreciated.
After years as both a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon and expert witness, I realized I could help decrease my patients' risk of developing vaginal health complications through education. In the midst of my often busy days, I take the time to educate because I believe it is the best way to keep my patients healthy.
MY FAMILY
I am married to the well respected and brilliant family physician, Dr. Richard Laue, and have been blessed with 3 kind and gorgeous sons and recently a beautiful granddaughter!
I provide the education that can drastically increase the quality of women's lives.
